At Rise, we believe that while what’s required for performance looks different for everyone, it can be articulated overall by three categories — skill, strength, and mindset.
Following a holistic evaluation in each of these categories, I’ll work with you to address the ways in which you need to grow to climb harder and perform better — through on-wall drills, video analysis, strengthening, movement education, and general guidance.
-
Skill/technical ability is your capacity to apply your physical capabilities to climbing movements. Tension, coordination, timing, footwork, and more compose this category that plays heavily into one’s ability to climb hard and perform well.
-
Also described as physical capacity, this category is the raw force output your body has across different planes of movement - pushing and pulling in your upper and lower body, core strength and stability, finger strength, and mobility.
How hard can you pull and push?
In what ranges of motion can you pull/push that hard?
-
Mindset/mental game is a key element to high level performance, yet is so often overlooked. Infinite physical strength and technical skill will only get you so far if your mind is interfering with you applying them.
As a coach, I’ll explore concepts with you such as pressure, failure, comparison, learning, motivation, belief, and curiosity to help your mind someday be your biggest strength and least limiting factor in your climbing.
